When you first started Invisalign, it might’ve taken you a bit to get used to having your trays. You’ve slowly made a routine that works for you with a setup that makes cleaning them quick and efficient. If you are travelling soon, then you may wonder how you can take the good habits you built along with you while still being fairly compact. Well, here are three tips that can help make your upcoming trip with aligners easier.
1.) Bring Several Sets of Aligners
Throughout your orthodontic treatment, you will need to swap to a new set of trays every week or so. This helps keep your teeth under constant pressure, keeping them moving smoothly. So, if you know you’ll be gone for several months or weeks, then see when you will be expected to advance your Invisalign progress and bring the right number of aligners.
If not, then you’ll have to wear the same tray for longer than planned. This will eventually lead to delays, so pack however many you need! Along with them, you should have a smaller pouch of your dental essentials. Carrying a travel toothbrush, floss, mini toothpaste, and mouthwash can help you keep your smile clean while you are on the go. Throw in some extra cases, and you’re all set!
2.) Keep Water Bottles Nearby
Whether you are going by plane or car, you may snack on different foods and need to brush your teeth afterward. You may head to the lavatory or gas station, but their sinks may gross you out. It’s easy to view them as unsanitary, so to get around this, use a bottle of water instead! Have several handy so you are never far from clean water.
3.) Stay Consistent with Your Aligner Routine
Last but not least, you will need to stick with your Invisalign routine. When you get to your destination, you may be eager to kick back, relax, and dive into the new scenery. You may be more laid back and go with the flow, but you shouldn’t be carefree with your trays. It’s important you get the full 20- to 22-hour wear time, that way you keep your treatment going smoothly.
Since it may be easy to forget, set alarms or timers when you eat. Many people have success with apps, such as TrayMinder, to keep them on track. Once you have all these tips down, then all that’s left to do is have safe travels!
